This site has been created to provide a focal point for information related to the proposed building of houses between the villages of Gotherington and Bishops Cleeve.

The three local councils have opened up the new Joint Core Strategy to public consultation. This public consultation will commence on 13th December 2011 and run until 5pm on 12th February 2012. Details of the consultation can be found here :

Getting Involved
Gloucester City, Cheltenham Borough and Tewkesbury Borough Councils (GCT) hold the details of a number of organisations and individuals who have asked to be contacted regarding the development of the JCS. A list of organisations that are classed as “Specific” is included at the end of this statement and they will be contacted during the JCS process. In addition, GCT will consult with the general public and other consultation bodies using a variety of means as set out in this statement. Full details of events will be published on the JCS website and in the quarterly JCS Newsletter.

What does it mean for me?
The Joint Core Strategy (JCS) is a partnership between Gloucester City Council, Cheltenham Borough Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council, supported by Gloucestershire County Council.
The JCS was formed to produce a co-ordinated strategic development plan for the area, and will plan how the area will develop during the period up to 2031.
The JCS will set out the approach that the Councils will take:
- to protect and enhance the natural and historic environment
- deal with climate change
- set out policies for the location and timing of new housing and employment development, key infrastructure, community, leisure and tourism facilities
Tewkesbury Borough Council has been the first council out of three to approve the publication of a consultation document called “Developing the Preferred Options’, which forms part of the Joint Core Strategy.
